Burglar is an alternative rock band hailing from Dublin, Ireland.
Formed in 2021 by Willow and Eduardo after meeting in college, the duo bonded over a shared love for alternative icons like PJ Harvey and King Krule. Despite their contrasting backgrounds—Eduardo coming from Goiânia, Brazil’s vibrant punk rock scene, and Willow emerging from Dublin’s indie-pop sphere with festival appearances at Electric Picnic and Sea Sessions under her previous project, Opal Lights—their collaboration has crafted a sound that is both distinctive and addictive. Combining Willow’s introspective, dissociative lyricism with Eduardo’s raw, confessional approach, Burglar’s music is a fusion of energetic, hook-laden tracks featuring alternating vocal leads, lush harmonies, distorted guitars, buzzing synths, and bassist Cormac’s irresistibly catchy grooves.
Throughout 2023, Burglar made their mark on Dublin’s live music circuit, building a loyal following and earning praise for their dynamic and electrifying performances. Their sound has drawn comparisons to a range of influences, from Fugazi and Slint to Bloc Party. The band achieved a major milestone by winning a battle of the bands between Trinity College and UCD—judged by representatives from Hot Press, MusicMaker, and the Royal Irish Academy of Music—taking first place for Trinity College.
Burglar’s long-awaited debut single, Nobody Needs to Know You're Desperate, dropped on March 15, 2024, setting the stage for their highly anticipated debut EP, which is currently in the works.
